The Rock Inspired: creating with rock and precious metal

If you asked people, I would be the last person in my family who would produce artistic works. I have three sisters - all three of which studied art heavily, two of which won local awards for art. Me? I'm a technical writer by day and an English major by training.

So what's a technical writer and English major doing, playing with the artistic? Really, this art form is about 50% skill, 30% process, and 20% inspiration. That's about the same mix I use in diagnosing computer problems, documenting a procedure, writing a short story, or critiquing an essay. It's the mix that works in my life. Knowing that, it only makes sense that this resonates so strongly with me.

A little more about me - I'm the second-eldest of four girls. I grew up an Army brat, calling thirteen different houses home before I graduated college. I enjoy traveling and look forward to seeing the last five states I haven't visited. I have a Master's degree in English from the University of Virginia, but the majority of my professional work has been technology related. Most of all, I love nature.

I currently live in Ottawa, Kansas with my dog 'Liza, my cat Alex, and about 1500 pounds of rocks.
